Andrei Gerasimov is a first-year PhD student in late Modern European History, with a minor field in Asian and Middle Eastern History. He received his B.A. in History from Novosibirsk State University and his M.A. in Sociology from the European University at St. Petersburg. His broad academic interests center on the intellectual and political history of the social sciences within the Socialist Bloc and the Non-Aligned countries. Additionally, he is interested in applying sociological methods and theories to conduct prosopographical research on scholars and experts. He recently authored an article exploring how Asian and African Studies emerged in the USSR during the 1950s as a direct response to the Bandung Conference.
