External funding opportunities are constantly changing, we encourage students to make use of the resources available online. The US Department of Labor has a search tool: https://www.careeronestop.org/toolkit/training/find-scholarships.aspx. And there are several scholarship websites including Fastweb, Scholarships.com, Big Future from the College Board, Bold, and MastersPortal
Once admitted, students can also utilize the Rutgers, School of Graduate Studies Gradfund resource.
NJ Teachers and State Employees
Many of our students are able to obtain tuition assistance for a part-time MA degree through their employment in New Jersey School districts. In some districts teachers may be able to obtain salary guide enhancements and professional development credits for courses taken in the History Department at Rutgers. We have created a guide to help prospective students/teachers find the relevant information on tuition assistance here: Rutgers_MA_-_NJ_Teachers_Tuition_Assistance_Guide.pdf.
Certain departments in the State Government, like the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, provide tuition reimbursement for degrees like ours (https://www.nj.gov/labor/aboutlwd/ourculture.shtml)
Rutgers Employees
Rutgers employees are eligible for tuition remission, and some employees of Rutgers Health (RBHS) are eligible for Tuition Assistance. Details are available here: https://uhr.rutgers.edu/benefits/educational-assistance-programs
Fulbright Program
